Sunday I headed off to Denny’s Big Day Out in Dublin city centre as part of the St. Patrick’s Festival. It was a glorious sunny day and as I headed down Merrion Street, many others were heading in the same direction to Merrion Square.
Walking alongside a man and his three or four young children I couldn’t help but overhear their conversation. Walking past Leinster House, the eldest child, a boy of about 7 asked his dad what was that?
“That’s the Taoiseach’s office, that’s where he works.”
Some oohs and aahs of amazement from the kids.
Dad: “Who can tell me who the Taoiseach is? Come on, come on.” He was snapping fingers while saying this, may have been a school teacher in disguise
Oldest lad said something I didn’t quite hear.
Disappointed dad: “No, no its not Barack Obama.”
The Taoiseach looks like Peter Griffin from Family Guy
Obama however looks like a movie star
I for one support America invading Ireland just so we can have Obama as our President
Taoiseach looks like a slobbier Gerry Ryan
Did you see the two of them together on the news? Obama is there, looking like some presidential rockstar…and then there’s Cowen…looking like a cow in a suit…pathetic..
Cow in a suit…
hee hee hee hee….
@White Rabbit – really? You’d put up with all those Americans just for that?
@Xbox – he is a little less than pleasing to the eye. Which would make feck all difference if he was doing a good job right now.
@Claire a cow in a suit? LOL, compared to OB I guess he does
I’ll take a bet that the Dad had funky longish hair and perhaps a cord jacket, the kids all had floppy hair styles and were ever so nicely spoken and they walked in from Ranelagh or came in on bikes with kiddie trailers.
I hate those bikes…there was a guy with one of those in the park yesterday, and the surliest looking yoke of a child that I’ve ever seen.
lol @ holemaster. Don’t forget the leather patches on the elbows.
You make a decent point but I look at Robinson and McGuinness and I reckon I can handle invasion
Not so far from the truth…
Did you hear that Cowan started reading Obama’s speech in Washington this week? He was 20 seconds into it when he realised that he was reading the wrong speech. I wonder what made him twig he had got it wrong?
a) When he said “my fellow Americans?”?
b) When he referred to “we the American People”?
c) When he referred to his humble background in Hawaii?
Hmm. Wonders never cease..
@holemaster he didn;t actually he looked pretty ‘regular’ to me. Maybe a previous hippy now with 9-5 job to support his 4 kids
@Claire still not a fan of ankle biters I see
@soulmc I had those when I was in school on my worn out school jumper
@WhiteRabbit lol
@Colm I know…you’d think he’d at least have read his own speech beforehand to know what it was about?! Hmmm. At least he realised it eventually – would Bertie have? lol
